AGGREGAT3 - The "Aggregat3" is a German trio consisting of Leonhard Huhn (alto-sax), Reza Askari (double bass) and Moritz Schlömer (drums). Their music ranges from Bebop to Avent-Garde. The three musicians - all graduates of the colleges of music in Cologne and Arnheim - got to know each other at a concert in Cologne. After some sessions in Cologne, they played their first concert at the beginning of 2016 in Arnheim. Further concerts in Germany and the Netherlands followed.
The Aggregat3, is an ensemble that has set itself the task of not falling into patterns and constantly in search of something new. In doing so, they never lose sight of their goal of not auditioning the listener, but of redefining feelings, thoughts and listening habits.
The musical idea, behind this not unusual in jazz occupation, is that contrary to the traditional interpretation of the saxophone trio, here every musician is an equal and equal part of a larger whole. There is no classic role allocation, but each role is redistributed again and again. This kind of music requires a lot of spontaneity, courage and concentration. There is no room for selfishness here. For the most part, the trio plays freely improvised or own compositions, which are by no means always interpreted the same way. Depending on the mood and atmosphere, from rather quick and disturbing pieces, can be quiet and gentle ballads. The strong individual character of every single musician is always put into the service of the whole. The attraction that unites the three is the charm of improvisation, which occupies the highest priority in jazz. To improvise collectively is a challenge and only a few are up to it.
